Junior Rep Preview
Youth Girls
After entering two sides in 2017, the Stingrays have come together as one squad in 2018 and will be looking to claim carnival honours like they did in 2016 with a full squad.
The team has plenty of fire power with the likes of Jorja Moore, Grace Gowing and Tarni Evans who have played for NSW/ACT at state level. There are plenty of familiar names in the Sapphire team with seasoned campaigners like Mikayla Shaw, Kristelle Westbrook, Zalie Betts and Katlyn Scott among the sides best and experienced players.
With the side boasting plenty of experience the team also has some top quality youth in the team as well with promising players such as Tyra-Lee Palmer, Angelita Hochkins and Alexis Watson set to have big impacts this weekend. With Shane Crowe leading the girls again in 2018, the girls will have a great chance of claiming carnival honours. Central West will pose a tough contest on the Friday night after claiming the 2017 carnival honours whilst the Saints will be a tough task on the Saturday with the new AFL South Coast competition producing some quality players in year one.
Player to Watch: Tarni Evans, The Tathra product has been a standout of the competition the past 3 season and this has resulted in selection for the u16 NSW/ACT youth girls side and ability to test herself with Quenbeyan.
Under 17’s
If there is one thing that has defined this group of players in their rep journey it has to be skill. This side posesses a high level of skill and that is set to continue this weekend in Nowra. After falling short in the final last year to the Illawarra the Sapphire Coast boys will be looking to go one better this year and will have a great opportunity to get their weekend off to a good start on the Friday against the Central West.
With the likes of Kynan Baker, Jedd Martyn, Caleb Higgins and Rocco Lagana running through the midfield the team will have plenty of good options going forward in Doug Stubbs and Liam Russell who will pose problems to the opposition whilst Jak Howker will clean up any scraps left by the sides tall forwards.
The side sees some new blood in 2018 with the likes of Zac Harlow and Deklyn Pascoe coming into the team whilst Merimbula’s Harry Jennings returns to the team after spending the past few season in Canberra. The under 17’s will be ultra competitive again in 2018 and look for the side to play ultra attacking, possession based football.
Player to Watch: Prediction: Caleb Higgins, The Digger has been outstanding in 2018 for the Diggers. Higgins has played his best footy for the senior side this season providing the club plenty of run and carry all over the field. With his flexibility to play forward, back or in the midfield look for Higgins to be one of the Sapphire Coast’s outstanding players this weekend.

Junior Rep Preview
Under 15’s
There is plenty of top end talent in the under 15 side in 2018 and the side will be led by Ritchie Faulkner and Scott Ballard who are both taking up the role for the first time in 2018. After a third placed finish in 2017, the side will be looking to make the final this year and have the squad to do so.
There is plenty of experience in this side whilst also a number of new faces set to take on the competition. The likes of Thomas Hodge, Ryan Holdsworth, Matthew Parker,Jonathan Harkins-McMahon and Jack Faulkner have plenty of representative experience while the likes of Nic Boom, Emile Turville and Harry Raeck come into the team for their first representative experience. T
he side will have plenty of pace up and down the flanks with the likes of Scott Parsons, Tom O’Meara and Stuart Megee set to run and play some expansive football throughout the weekend. Frank Puglisi and Jack Harris will provide targets for the Stingrays up forward as they look to hit the scoreboard with success. Look for this side to leave it all out on the field this year.
Player to Watch: Jonathan Harkins-McMahon, The Bermagui junior will be the general off half back for the team. He has shown over the past seasons that he is always up for the challenge and rises for the big occasions. Look for plenty of intercept marks in the back line.
Under 13’s
After falling agonizingly short in the under 12’s last season, a relatively unchanged side will come into this seasons carnival extremely confident that they go one better in 2018 and claim carnival honours. The side possess a number key components with plenty of rep experience already.
With 2018 South Coast PSSA representative in Beau Bennett, Lachlan Moresi, Walter Blewitt, Nate Woods, Logan Allison, Jarra Weston and Tasman Simons, not only is the side extremely youthful but possesses players who have been exposed to a high level of football in the past 12 months. There is plenty of experience also within the side, as it feels like players such as Campbell Moresi, Jardy Palmer and Will Kellar have been playing rep football for years.
The youngest rep side will be looking to run and carry this weekend and have every opportunity to play a stylish brand of football this weekend with signs during training that they are jelling well and ready to take on the three other competing leagues. With a big game against the Illawarra on the Saturday morning, look for this game to give the side a clear indication on how they are travelling for the weekend.
Player to Watch: Campbell Moresi, The Bermagui junior will be hard to stop this year up in Nowra. Moresi has grown about 2 feet in the past year looking like he should be playing under 17’s. With a large engine, look for the eldest Moresi to run all weekend and drive forward.
