Mitch Wallis appointed Football Operations and Development Coordinator – Sapphire Coast
AFL NSW/ACT and Sapphire Coast AFL is pleased to announce that Mitch Wallis has been appointed to the position of Football Operations and Development Coordinator – Sapphire Coast.
Mitch takes over from Jarrod Moore who has taken up a 10 month contract role with AFL Canada.
Many within the Sapphire Coast football community will be familiar with Mitch who is from the region and played his junior football with Pambula before spending some years in Canberra including two as a trainee with the ACT Game Development team. Mitch returned to the region earlier this year and his knowledge of the Sapphire Coast and strong existing relationships at club, school and community level, combined with his two years’ experience working for AFL NSW/ACT make him a perfect fit for the role.
Mitch’s responsibilities will be split between Game Development (approx. 3 days per week) and Football Operations (approx. 2 days per week). The Game Development component of Mitch’s role is a key one to ensure the sustainability of our clubs and the strong junior numbers coming through the competition reflects Jarrod’s work (with vital support from clubs) in this space over the past five years .
Wallis is looking forward to the opportunity of working within the region to grow the game.
“I’m really excited to again be working for the AFL, and in particular playing a key role in the growth of the game in the Sapphire Coast. The region has a lot of potential and I hope to build on the strong foundations laid in recent years, highlighted by the strong junior numbers.”
Mitch commenced in his role today, Monday 5th November.
