Round 7 Preview
Merimbula v Bermagui
This one is set to be a huge game in the context of the finals make up in 2017. Bermagui has lost Marcus Shaw for the season after a move to WA which will hurt their cause. Merimbula had a solid win last weekend against the winless Whalers and will be looking to make it two in two weeks as they host Bermagui. The big field will allow both teams to move and control the ball and whoever can dictate possession will be in the box seat. Look for this match to go down to the wire based off their last match.
Player to Watch: Luke Kingston, Bermagui have struggled to find a key target up forward after the departure of Shaw and Kingston needs to be that man for the Breakers. Prediction: Merimbula by 14 Points.

Tathra v Narooma
The match of the round with both teams poised at 4 and 1. A top two spot and double chance is up for grabs with the winner in a good position to claim the double chance. Last weekend saw the Sea Eagles claim a big win against the Breakers in Croc’s 300th whilst the Lions suffered their first loss in a thriller against Pambula Key forwards could decide this one with Simon Mackie and Dean Gartside being on fire for their teams.
Player to Watch: Chris Dwyer, Put on a man of the match display last weekend for the Sea Eagles kicking 5 and controlling the midfield. Has been inconsistent at times although is kicking into gear in the past weeks. Prediction: Narooma by 15 Points.

Women’s
Last weekend saw the Merimbula women’s side claim their first points on the teams history with a convincing win against Bega. The Diggers are building a good squad with the side confident that they will give the Breakers a run for their money this weekend. The Breakers have an extremely young squad although they still have their sights set on a top 4 birth. In Tathra, the Sea Eagles will host Narooma in the match of the round. The Lions have improved in 2017 and will be keen on claiming a big scalp with none bigger then Tathra. The Lions have the forward line to challenge for a top 2 finish although the Tathra mids might be to strong this weekend. In Bega the Bombers take on top of the table Eden which should result in a Whalers win. The Whalers were impressive against the Giants last weekend with a great spread of goal kickers across the contest. Carra Sheldon has been in fine form running through the middle. In the final match up the Panthers host the Giants with Pambula coming off a strong win against Narooma last weekend, In a low scoring game the Panthers showed they were able to restrict their opposition with Pambula hurting their opposition on the rebound off the back 50. The Giants young girls have fought hard in recent weeks although a little bit of inexperience has seen the more experienced teams such as Eden and Narooma getting hold of the Giants.
Player to Watch: Bianca Findlay, The Eden youngster came of age at the youth girls Shoalhaven carnival last year playing a key role down back. Prediction: Bermagui, Pambula, Tathra & Eden.

Development
After their first win in the development grade two weeks ago the Giants face a big test against Pambula. The Panthers have great depth in 2017 and it is evident from their form in the senior and development grade. Look for the Panthers to remain undefeated after the weekend although the Giants will be looking to break their charge. In Tathra the Sea Eagles will go into battle against the Lions with Tathra looking to overtake the Lions into second place on the ladder. The Sea Eagles were huge winners last weekend and a mix of experience and youth has seen the club play some good football. A win this weekend will see the Sea Eagles make up ground or see the Lions break free into 2nd.
Prediction: Pambula & Tathra.

Round 7 Preview
Under 16’s
The Giants rebounded from two tough losses against Merimbula to trounce the Breakers at home last weekend and they will take on the other front runner in Pambula this weekend. The Giants have been good in 2017 although the Panthers and Diggers have been exceptional. This will be a tough test and different test for the Giants with the Panthers possessing bigger bodies in comparison to Merimbula. Look for the Panthers to keep rolling in 2017. In Merimbula the Diggers face the winless Breakers. It doesn’t look like Bermagui will snap their losing streak this weekend as Merimbula will be well rested after the bye and confident after 2 big wins against the Giants. The Breakers will be looking for a good effort from their squad and for older players such as Ryan Shaw, Chris Olsen and Jai Curven to step up this weekend and have big games.
Player to Watch: Flynn Cook, Two goals behind the leading goal kicker for the under 16’s, Cook will be looking to catch and overtake the current leader this weekend. Cook has a large motor with the ability to run all day whilst playing in the ruck. Prediction: Merimbula & Pambula.

Under 13’s
This weekend sees 1 v 2, 3 v 4 and 6 v 7. The top of the table clash between Bermagui and Merimbula is the game of the round although the other two will be tightly contested. After the weekend Bega or Eden will have win number one for the season. The Bombers will have one to many game changers for the Whalers this weekend with the Butchers boys and Khama Geisler. In Pambula the Panthers and Giants will go head to head with the Giants full of confidence after a good win against Eden. The Giants lacked the killer instinct in the first couple of rounds and the club will be confident they have regained it this weekend against Pambula who have also been playing some good football in recent weeks. In the final match the Breakers have been unstoppable in 2017 although the Diggers will be hopeful that they can match them this weekend and show that it is not just a one horse race in the under 13’s.
Player to Watch: Khama Geisler, Was a shining light for the Bombers in their loss against Merimbula last weekend. Battled hard, shaking a number of tackles whilst getting the ball forward. Prediction: Bermagui, Bega & Pambula.

Under 11’s
Some important games in the under 11’s this weekend with the match of the round set to be Merimbula hosting Bermagui. The last time these two met the Diggers took the 4 points and the Bermagui Breakers will be looking to get revenge against the top of the table Diggers. A key matchup this weekend will be Beau Bennett v Lachlan Moresi in the midfield. The Bombers host Eden this weekend with the Bombers looking to bounce back from last weekend s loss. The Whalers have been competitive in each match this season although have been unable to claim a big scalp. This weekend will be a great opportunity although the Bombers will be motivated to get back into the top 4 after slipping out after the weekends loss. The Sea Eagles will be looking to get their first win of the season this weekend although they will be going up against Narooma who have won 4 on the trot. The Lions have been exciting in 2017 and their winning streak should continue this weekend. In the final match the Giants have edged into the top 4 and they will be looking to consolidate their position against Pambula who have struggled against the top sides this season. With the season being so close in 2017 the Giants will be looking to put pressure on the top 3 sides and consolidate a top 4 position.
Player to Watch: Walter Blewitt, Blewitt was unstoppable last weekend for the Diggers claiming a sensational number of dispoals whilst booting 4 goals in a man of the match performance against the Bombers. Predictions: Merimbula, BM Giants, Bega & Narooma.
