Round 7 Preview
Pambula v Narooma
Round 7 sees the much anticipated grand final rematch from 2017. Both Pambula and Narooma have had their ups and downs in 2018 with both clubs sitting on three wins apiece. The Lions were able to turn it on in the final quarter last weekend against the Diggers in a tight contest whilst Pambula secured the four points in a tough game against Eden although were always in control of the game without hitting top gear. Whichever side maintains top gear for longer this weekend will be taking the four points. Player to Watch: Harrison Peters, Peters has been a big inclusion for the Panthers in 2018 giving the side a legitimate number 1 ruckman freeing others from the duty. Prediction: Narooma by 7 points.

Merimbula v Tathra
Both senior games are set to be crackers this weekend with each side sitting on three wins apiece. This will be the first meeting between the Diggers and Sea Eagles with both sides coming in carrying some decent form. The Diggers surprised many this season knocking off the Panthers and Lions whikst going down to the Lions in a close one last weekend. They will be looking to add Tathra to their list this weekend at home. The Sea Eagles beat Eden convincingly last time out and will be looking to carry that momentum into this weekends game. Look for Gartside and Coulton to add to their goal totals. Player to Watch: Reece Mouldon, Has started the season well for the Diggers seeing plenty of the football. Has stepped his game up from a solid 2017 season. Prediction: Tathra by 10 points.

Women’s
The Breakers have surprised a number of people around the competition and last weekend was Tathra’s turn with a close contest. This weekend the Breakers will host the Eden Whalers in Bermagui looking to carry their good form to cause an upset. The Breakers will have to do so without Brooke Bragg, with a broken ankle and after a slow start the Whalers showed their class defeating the Panthers in round 6 with Kate Mitchell returning to the side.

The Giants got the four points last weekend at home against the Diggers and will now travel to Merimbula to try and claim the 8 points. The Giants will be looking to kick straighter this weekend after they kicked 18 minor scores last weekend. Merimbula will need to stop the Alves girls this weekend who have been great for the Giants.

After a tough loss last weekend to Narooma, the Bega Bombers have another tough game this weekend against second placed Tathra. With the Sea Eagles soaring high, the Bombers will be looking to hit the scoreboard like they did last weekend.

In the final game of the weekend the Panthers host the Lions in what should be a cracking contest. The Panthers were too good for Narooma in last years semi although there has been plenty of changes since then. Sitting in 6th, a Panthers win will help the club get back into finals contention whilst a Narooma win will firm 3rd place. Player to Watch: Sophie Taylor, has been ever present in the Lions line-up in the past two seasons with Taylor booting 7 last round. Prediction: Tathra, Eden, Narooma & Giants.

Round 7 Preview
Under 16’s
After a slow start to 2018, the Diggers have worked their way back into the top four after a 15 point win against Broulee Moruya in an entertaining match. With Jedd Martyn and Caleb Higgins in the side, the young Diggers side showed some extra polish go get the four points. The Giants put up a good fight and will be looking to do so again this weekend in Merimbula.

Bermagui and Tathra will be thankful this is the last time they will meet for the season after two consecutive games. The Sea Eagles lead the season series although the Breakers will be looking to even the ledger this weekend on home soil. Doug Stubbs leads the goal kicking in 2018 and will be looking to add to his total this weekend.

In the final match this weekend the Panthers host the Lions. The Panthers sit at the bottom of the table although will be looking to take up the challenge of knocking off the ladder leaders this weekend. Both teams will be excited to get back into action this weekend. Player to Watch: Fynn Walsh, In four games this season, Walsh has been among Tathra’s best each week. Prediction: Narooma, Bermagui & Merimbula.

Under 14’s
On what was perhaps the biggest upset of grand final day in 2017, Pambula and Bermagui will go head to head for the first time since. This is shaping up to be a huge game with both clubs undefeated in 2018 and playing good football. The Breakers may be without J. Harkins-McMahon and R. Campbell due to injury which will give the Panthers the slight edge at home. Look for this one to be another classic.

In Bega, the Bombers will be looking for win number one for the season as they take on Tathra on home soil. After the bye, the Bombers will be keen to get back into action and move off the bottom of the table. The Sea Eagles will look to bounce back after last weekend’s loss to the Breakers.

The final game sees the Diggers host the Giants in Merimbula. In a great contest between the two clubs last weekend where the Giants claimed a 3 point win, look for these two sides to once again put on a classic match. Merimbula are still looking for their first win of the season and home ground could be a factor this weekend in the side picking up win number one. Player to Watch: Noah Overend, Was important for the Diggers last weekend playing a solid four quarter game kicking one major. Prediction: Pambula, Merimbula & Bega.

Under 12’s
Some good games this weekend in the under 12’s grade. In Merimbula, the Diggers will look to maintain their unbeaten season as they take on the Giants who they claimed the four points against last weekend. Harry Blewitt has been a good addition for the Diggers in 2018 playing a similar game style to brother Walter Blewitt.

The Breakers have maintained their place within the top four in recent weeks thanks to some stringent defense. The Breakers haven’t allowed a goal in two weeks and will be looking to keep Eden scoreless this weekend. The Whalers have been playing some good football of late and will be hoping they can put four good quarters together to stun the Breakers in Bermagui.

The Panthers have won 3 of their last 4 games, falling only to Merimbula by 3 points in round 4. Pambula host Narooma this weekend in what should be a highly competitive match with both teams possessing A grade players with the ability to win a match. Narooma have been led up forward by Frank Friskin and Ryan Simper who lead the league goal kicking in 2018 and another game where the Lions kick straight could cause the Panthers some issues.

In the final game of the weekend the Bega Bombers host the Tathra Sea Eagles on home soil. The Sea Eagles are looking for win number one whilst the Bombers need to pick up four points to get back in touch with the top four after a tough couple of weeks against the leading teams. In what has become a hotly contested local derby more than just bragging rights are up for grabs this weekend. Player to Watch: Will Callaghan, The Bermagui Breaker has risen to the occasion in 2018 playing some solid football for the Breakers as they maintain pace with the top two sides. Will be important again this weekend against the Whalers. Prediction: Bermagui, Merimbula, Bega & Narooma.
