Round 13 Preview
Merimbula v Tathra
A big game for both these clubs this weekend at Berrmabool Oval. A win this weekend will see the Diggers secure a top two finish whilst the Sea Eagles will want the four points to put themselves in a position to secure a home semi final for 2018. The Sea Eagles have been on the slide in recent weeks losing 5 straight games whilst the Diggers are riding a 4 game winning streak. Look for this one to remain tight although Merimbula have shown in recent weeks they will run their opponents off Berrambool.

Player to Watch: Dylan Jordan, has shifted to half back in 2018 and has been important for the Diggers in providing rebound off the back half for the second placed Diggers. Prediction: Merimbula by 30 Points.

Eden v Narooma
The Whalers host Narooma this weekend and Eden will be looking to put on another good display in front of their home crowd in their final home game in Eden this weekend. The Whalers were competitive against Pambula last weekend although facing Narooma is a different prospect. The Lions lead the competition an a win this weekend would almost secure the Lions the minor premiership. Narooma generally don’t travel well down to Eden although the Lions will be looking to maintain momentum heading into the final weeks of the season. Player to Watch: Jacob Breed, has been a good pickup for the Lions in 2018 and has been amongst the Lions best when playing Prediction: Narooma by 57 Points.

Women’s
As we enter the finals rounds of the season there are teams that need to make up some ground if they are to play finals football in 2018. The biggest match of the season and this weekend sees the Panthers host the Breakers. The Breakers sit 8 points behind the Panthers in fifth place and if Bermagui loose this weekend it will be near impossible for the Bermagui to play finals with the Panthers to take on Merimbula who they have not lost to in their history.

After a shock upset last weekend the Tathra Sea Eagles will be looking to get back on the winners list as they take on Merimbula. The Sea Eagles should bounce back this weekend although Merimbula will be full of confidence after their first win of the season last weekend against Bega.

The Giants have had some tough close losses in the past few weeks and they will be confident that they will be able to get the four points this weekend as they host the Bega Bombers. If results had have gone the Giants way, they could be still in the finals hunt although the team will be looking to play some positive football in the remaining weeks.

In the final game of the weekend, the Eden Whalers host the Narooma Lions who are full of confidence after their win over Tathra. After struggling against Bermagui the first time around the Whalers were back to their best last weekend and if the Whalers are able to continue that form they should get the four points against a confident Narooma.

Player to Watch: Talia Westley, The Eden local has been a good mid season pickup for the Whalers. Has starred for Eden HS in recent years. Prediction: Eden, BM Giants, Tathra & Bermagui.

Round 13 Preview
Under 16s
In a tight under 16’s competition in 2018, round 12 saw some good games of football between sides that are confident of playing in the grand final this season. Merimbula host Tathra this weekend and the result of this one will balance on who is available for the Diggers. With Higgins and Martyn in the lineup last weekend the Diggers were impressive against the Breakers. Tathra will be looking to bounce back after a tough loss to Narooma last weekend.

The Panthers will be looking to get another win between now and the end of the season and will believe they can match Bermagui this weekend on home soil. The Breakers could have tough run home and will be keen to pick up four points this weekend if they are to maintain their place within the top four.

In the final match of the weekend the Giants host Narooma in what will be a good match. The Giants have been a different side on home soil and will be confident that they can knock off the top of the table Lions who are on a high after claiming the top of the table clash last weekend against Tathra.

Player to Watch: Zac Harlow, Harlow has been exceptional for Tathra in 2018 for the under 16’s whilst also playing senior football. Prediction: Bermagui, Narooma & Tathra.

Under 14s
The under 14’s competition is hotting up as we enter the final rounds of the season. This weekend sees the top two sides go head to head with Pambula hosting Bermagui. The Panthers had a shock loss last weekend although with a number of key pieces out they will be looking to bounce back this weekend and defeat Bermagui on the ground where they claimed last seasons flag. The Breakers sit clear on top and a win this weekend would ensure a top two finish for the team.

Merimbula host Tathra this weekend with the Diggers looking to make it 4 wins from 5 games in recent weeks. The Sea Eagles still have just the one win this season and may find the going tough against a Diggers side full of confidence in recent weeks.

In the final match of the weekend a Giants win against Bega and a Pambula loss will see the Giants move into the top two for the first time this season. Bega have been much improved in recent matches and although they travel to Tuross this weekend, they should give the Giants some trouble this weekend.

Player to Watch: Sebastian Giri, Giri has been playing some good football for the Giants in recent weeks as an inside midfielder. Prediction: Bermagui, Merimbula & BM Giants.

Under 12s
The under 12’s ladder is starting to take shape and the Bega Bombers will need to get a little bit of a wriggle on. The Bombers travel to Tuross this weekend although this match will not be straight forward for Bega. The Giants have been much improved in recent weeks and will no doubt trouble the Bombers this weekend who are desperate for a win.

Down in Pambula the Panthers have a great opportunity to secure fourth as they take on Bermagui on home soil. With the inclusion of the Whitby twins, the Panthers have increased the quality of their squad, and with the Breakers having a number of injuries to key players there is no better time for Pambula to take on and knock off the reigning premiers. Look for this game to go right down to the wire.

In Eden the Whalers are set to host the Narooma Lions. The Lions sit top two and should maintain their winning form and claim the four points against the Whalers. Eden were competitive against Bermagui last weekend and will be looking to take it up to Narooma for all four quarters. If Narooma get out to a quick lead, look for the Lions to give some opportunities to their younger players in key positions.

In the final game of the weekend, the top of the table Merimbula Diggers host the last placed Tathra Sea Eagles. Merimbula held off an early challenge by the Bega Bombers last weekend before showing their class and the team will be looking to do so again this weekend. The Sea Eagles are hungry for a win in 2018 and will be giving it everything they have got this weekend.

Player to Watch: Jack Pollock, the young Whaler has stepped up in 2018 playing some fantastic football for the club. Has had plenty of time in the middle. Prediction: Narooma, Pambula, Merimbula & Bega.
