Round 7 Domino’s ‘Hotshot of the Week’

We are excited to announce our ‘Hotshots of the Week’ for Round 7, thanks to Domino’s Tura Beach!

Our first weekly winner is a name plenty of people may recognise throughout the league, Shirley Rixon!

Shirley and her partner Neil have been involved with the AFL Sapphire Coast for over 15 years, and through that time have been involved in different areas of the league and their clubs through a variety of roles.

Since coming across to the Tathra Sea-Eagles, Shirley has worked tirelessly in the clubs Timekeepers box at Lawrence park, ensuring all games are kept of schedule and running smoothly, even when Tathra teams aren’t playing!

The nomination of Shirley comes from a club that Shirley helped out in a big way on the weekend, this is what the club had to say:

Shirley and Neil both helped out BMG this week by volunteering for us when we had a ‘home game in Tathra.

Having two games on at similar times with an hour drive between them and one being a ‘home game’ at a ground that wasn’t ours made it a bit tricky. Shirl very kindly took over and helped with the timekeeping during the men’s game against Pambula. She made sure we had everything we needed and ensured the game was run on time and efficiently. This is going above and beyond considering she is a Tathra volunteer. It’s people like Shirl that make the Sapphire Coast competition so fantastic, instead of walking away and saying “that’s not my problem” she saw a need and helped a fellow club.

On behalf of BMG a huge thankyou to Shirl for all her efforts both with us and with the league.

The second winner for round 5 is Tyler Crowe, from the Eden Whalers!

Tyler has just played her 50th game for Eden Women’s Team. She is the second player to reach 50 games in the Women’s grade, hitting the milestone just after younger sister Ally!

Tyler has been around the Whalers since a young age, always there willing to help any way she could. Tyler now captains the Eden Women’s team and is a 3x premiership captain of the team.

She has always helped the club in any way necessary including umpiring, running the club Auskick program, running water for other grades, and has recently stepped up to coaching juniors this year!

A real champion of the club!

Congratulations to the Shirley and Tyler for their achievements both on and off the field and we thank you for your dedication to your clubs and the league.

If you have someone in your club across the weekend who has a standout individual performance on the field, shows great sportsmanship, goes above and beyond off the field, or just deserves recognition for their service to their club, the umpiring group or the league generally, please nominate them by emailing Mitch a short write up, along with a photo of them.

Each weekly winner will receive a ‘Hot Shot’ pizza voucher thanks to Domino’s Tura Beach as a reward for their efforts.
