Round 3 Domino’s ‘Hotshots of the Week’

We are excited to announce our ‘Hotshots of the Week’ for Round 3, thanks to Domino’s Tura Beach!

Up first we have Damon Kerr from the AFL Sapphire Coast Umpiring Group.

Damon Kerr is in his first season as a Senior Boundary Umpire for the Sapphire Coast and is already transitioning into field umpiring. Having begun the year controlling a couple of Under 12’s games where he has impressed our coaches, Damon is now ready to take the next step in his umpiring career. Umpiring just seems to come so naturally to Damon, his fitness and eagerness to learn plays a critical role in his development.

Umpiring is no easy task, but with support and training, Damon is a great example that anyone can get into the game. Keep in mind this young man begins his day early Umpiring in the Under 12s, plays in the Under 16s and is then ready to back up in his Clubs Reserve Grade team, all before he takes the field as a Senior Boundary Umpire!

Damon’s attitude to the game, willingness to learn and overall work ethic is a credit to him, his club and the Sapphire Coast Umpiring group.

Are you looking to get into umpiring?

If you are, please email or call our Umpire Coordinator Ash Lamb at ashlamb67@gmail.com or 0403533410

The second ‘Hot Shot of the Week’ is Nico Martino from the Eden Whalers!

Nico has been the Whalers youngest Under 12’s player for the last 3 years. He is passionate about football, the Whalers, and just having a kick! For the Whaler’s first round last weekend against Bermagui, Nico played multiple games in the morning,  and then provided constructive advice and high 5’s at the quarter time breaks for the Women’s game – he is 7 years old!!

We would love to bottle his enthusiasm and hope he has many more years ahead with the Whalers!

Thanks, Nico.

Congratulations to both Damon and Nico for their achievements both on and off the field and we thank you for your dedication to your clubs and the league.

If you have someone in your club across the weekend who has a standout individual performance on the field, shows great sportsmanship, goes above and beyond off the field, or just deserves recognition for their service to their club, the umpiring group or the league generally, please nominate them by emailing Mitch a short write up, along with a photo of them.

Each weekly winner will receive a ‘Hot Shot’ pizza voucher thanks to Domino’s Tura Beach as a reward for their efforts.
